History of St. Patrick's Day St. Patrick was know as the patron of Saint of Ireland. He was not born Irish, but he has become an integral part of the Irish heritage through his service across Ireland in the 5th century A.D. Patrick's real name was Maewyn Succat which is a Roman name. He later became known as Patrick.

National Women's History Month

National Women's History Month began as a local event and was originally a single week. In 1978, Sonoma County, California sponsored a Women's History week to promote the teaching of historical women which at that time was a neglected subject in elementary, junior high school and high school. The week of March 8th was selected to include International Women's Day. In 1981 congress passed a resolution making the week a National celebration, and in 1987 expanded to the entire month of March.

History of April's Fool's Day

Unlike most of the other nonfoolish holidays, the history of April Fool's Day, sometimes called All Fool's Day, is not totally clear. There really wasn't a ''first April Fool's Day'' that can be pointed on the calender. The closest point in time that can be identified as the begining of this tradition was in 1582, in France. April Fool's Day developed into an international fun fest. In different countries people play different jokes on each other. In Scotland, for example, April Fool's Day is actually celebrated for two days. The second day is devoted to pranks involving the outside of the body. It is called Taily Day. The origin of the ''Kick me'' sign can be traced to this observance. It eventually evolved into a lighter observance involing pranks and trickery. Pranks performed on April Fool's Day range from the simple, "Your shoes untied," to a person setting a roommate's alarm clock back an hour is a common gag. Whatever the prank, the trickster usually ends it by yelling to his victim, ''April Fools.''

History of Passover

Passover celebrates the Jewish people's freedom from Egypt over 3000 years ago. Passover lasts for seven days. To celebrate Passover, Jewish people begin with a "seder" a traditional Passover meal. During this meal only Kosher foods are eaten. While retelling the story of freedom from Egypt.
